Gord started his path in music following his mother’s footsteps, taking piano lessons, but eventually found his passion for the drums at 12 years of age. He played drums in school bands and then was accepted to the Music School at the University of Victoria, where he studied under Salvador Ferreras.
After completing his degree, Gord moved back to the Okanagan and quickly started working with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and teaching drums to private students. He also worked on a multitude of musical theatre productions and different cover bands and original projects.
In 2003, Gord joined the celtic/bluegrass/pop band the Clumsy Lovers. The band soon after signed with Nettwerk Records and toured extensively around North America, selling out venues in the Pacific north-west United States and opened for the Proclaimers across Canada.
After two and a half years with the Clumsys, Gord decided to get off the road and leave the band to pursue different projects in Vancouver. He eventually started teaching again at Long & McQuade and has worked with various groups of different styles. He currently performs with his own jazz- fusion group Hydrasonic, and ‘90s tribute act the Chandler Bings. He also does session work from his own studio.
